HU$H
ANTIKING
LYRICS:
Yeah
I, I
You, you
You wanted to open your mouth
A distant cry out loud
What you run your mouth about
You wouldn’t dare say around
You take away the sound
And there’s nothing left to crown
Hush
Rush
Rush
Run
Hush
Shut your face
Hand over mouth
Buried face down
Shut
Shut your face
Hand over mouth
Buried face down
Shut
Shut your face
Bend over now
Buried face down
Hush
Shut your face
Bend over now
Buried face down
Carried away from safety
Make your way
I make my day
Use you anyway
Carried away from safety
Make your way
I make my day
Use you anyway
I reign over you, slave
I take over, you slave
Do you want to live today
Then you do what I say
You do what I say
You do what I say
You do what I say
Do it anyway
Do it anyway
Do it anyway
Do it anyway, slave
"HU$H" began as an instrumental track sent to me by the LA band AntiKing for a vocal audition. I wrote the lyrics and recorded the melody independently, hoping it could lead to a real collaboration in the scene. At the time, I was already living in Pomona, dealing with life’s realities while still pushing forward musically.
Then legal issues arose—a charge that felt completely unfounded and blown out of proportion. Combined with the mounting pressures of the industry, disability, limited income from Social Security, and California’s high cost of living, it became clear I couldn’t stay. I made the difficult decision to leave Pomona and return to my family in Texas, with every intention of resolving things and heading back to California permanently once the situation allowed. That return never materialized—the expenses, logistics, and need for stability made it impossible, and Texas became home again.
Even though the AntiKing project never came together, "HU$H" remains a meaningful marker for me. It shows I had already achieved what I set out to do in California: connect with the scene, create with others, and help start something unstoppable. The song itself speaks to darker truths I witnessed firsthand—the silencing, exploitation, coercion, and unchecked violations that run through parts of the entertainment world. It’s an unflinching expression of those experiences, not sugarcoated or sensationalized.
The road that led to this track was tough, and I’m not here to glamorize it—just to share honestly. Thank you for listening and for being part of the story.
